According to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), the much awaited Mumbai-Pune Expressway missing link is scheduled to open by August 2025, therefore greatly improving the road infrastructure in Maharashtra. With a cable-stayed bridge and an expressway tunnel among other elements of this mammoth project, travel time between Mumbai and Pune should be decreased by at least thirty minutes.
Built to circumvent the Khandala ghat segment, the 13.3-kilometer stretch represents the missing link. Two main tunnels spanning over 8km each and a 760-meter cable-stayed bridge linking the tunnels comprise the project.
