India has  initiated a number of large-scale infrastructure development projects in recent years. The main aim of these projects is to improve connectivity, boost industrial capacity, and facilitate economic development in the country. The following list highlights the top ten projects based on their total project value.

Bharatmala Pariyojana 

This is a national highway development project that aims to construct almost 83,000 kilometers of roads in India. The project aims to enhance freight efficiency, travel time, and regional connectivity. With a budget of over ₹5.35 lakh crores, this is one of the largest road development projects in India.

Sagarmala Project 

This project aims to develop ports and connect them with roads and rail transport. The project aims to lower logistics costs. Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC)

Mumbai Trans Harbour Link

This 22km sea-link project will connect Mumbai to Navi Mumbai, cutting travel time drastically. Estimated to cost over ₹17,000 crore, this project is one of the largest urban infrastructure projects in India.

Chardham Highway Project 

Spanning over 900km, this highway project will increase connectivity to religious sites in Uttarakhand. The project will cost around ₹12,000 crore and focuses on road safety, all-weather roads, and developing the region as a tourist destination.

Char Dham Railway Project 

This railway project will connect the northern Himalayan areas to the national railway network. The total cost of this project is estimated to be ₹43,000 crore and will help develop tourism in the region.

Mumbai Metro Expansion 

The Mumbai metro expansion project aims to improve urban mobility. With a total project cost of ₹55,000 crore, it includes several new lines, upgraded stations, and modern signaling systems.

Purvanchal Expressway 

With a total length of 340 kilometers, this expressway will link eastern Uttar Pradesh to other urban centers. It requires an investment of approximately ₹22,500 crore and aims to enhance the transportation of goods and the development of industries.

Bandra-Worli Sea Link Phase 2 

Based on the success of the initial phase, the expansion project will help alleviate traffic on the western side of Mumbai. It requires an investment of ₹11,000 crore and aims to support the growing population by enhancing the urban transportation system.

Smart Cities Mission Projects 

These projects are spread across different cities and involve the development of smart cities, information technology, and transport projects. The total investment in these projects exceeds ₹1 lakh crore and aims to modernize the cities and make them citizen-friendly.
