JCB India displayed a new 52-tonne excavator at EXCON 2025 when the company expanded its offering for the domestic and export markets with over ten additional machines. The exhibition brought together the construction sector in South Asia and provided a platform where technology converged with demand for equipment and long-term policy directions.
EXCON is a forum to connect customers with policymakers, contractors with financiers, and suppliers with technology leaders, said Deepak Shetty, CEO and MD of JCB India. The company exports its machines to more than 135 countries, while this year's visitors at EXCON included delegations from South Asia, Africa, and South-East Asia. According to him, the platform helps the company read market shifts and demonstrate solutions that respond to both global and Indian infrastructure needs.
The new line-up included improved backhoe loaders, compact excavators in the 2 to 5 tonne category, and the 520X LC, which enters the 50-tonne class with an operating weight of 52.8 tonnes. It also showed its 3DX Super and 4DX backhoe loaders; 540-180 telehandler, which can reach a height of 18 meters, and the Agrimax model, which is for agricultural purposes.
Shetty said JCB builds machines around customer priorities. He added that entry into new operating segments, fuel efficiency, and reinforcing operator protection guide the engineering principles of the company. Each of the machines launched at this event, he said, reflects these elements.
JCB expanded its development of clean energy with the introduction of a hydrogen-powered genset. This follows last year's launch of a hydrogen engine for backhoe loaders. The company said it has achieved a 45 percent gain in fuel efficiency over the last 15 years in the Indian market.
Digital solutions were also in the spotlight. JCB unveiled its Parts Online portal, an e-commerce site providing access to its parts catalogue. Next-generation telematics and an Operator App used within its skill-development programs were introduced. An excavator simulator - coming early 2026 - will join the Daksh backhoe simulator the company deployed earlier this year.
Currently, JCB India has 700 dealer outlets along with five parts warehouses that hold more than 40,000 spare parts. The service network has expanded to 300 service vans, 183 parts vans, Workshop-on-Wheels units, 6,000 trained service engineers, and 3,500 mobile service engineers.
The portfolio launch included an improved fuel efficiency of 15 percent in the 81 Eco excavator, 8 percent higher efficiency from the NXT 150 with IntelliFlow Hydraulics, and the 290 LR designed for deep-reach tasks with a 57-foot digging depth. Mini excavator models 30Z and 36R were designed with zero-tail-swing and reduced-tail-swing designs for confined-space operations.
JCB also unveiled the VMT 300 compactor, meeting Stage V compliance norms and offering 20 percent better fuel efficiency than its previous version. The unit comes with a 1200 mm drum and lifetime lubricated joints.
The 520X LC excavator will have a 400 HP engine and will support a bucket size of up to 3.4 cubic meters. JCB will offer the model on a full maintenance contract out to 30,000 operating hours.
