Escorts Kubota Limited has launched its new combine harvester, the Kubota PRO588i-G, in Punjab and Haryana. The machine brings Japanese precision to Indian fields and gives farmers an alternative to stubble burning. The PRO588i-G cuts stalks near the base, unlike conventional full-feed harvesters. This method collects full-length straw, which farmers can reuse as cattle feed or in biomass plants. The straw becomes a source of income and also helps reduce North India’s air pollution as the farmers are no longer required to burn the stubble.

A Japanese-designed threshing system protects the fragile, long grains of Basmati rice during harvest. Conventional harvesters often break these grains, lowering quality and value. With this system, farmers preserve grain integrity, raise market price, and increase export potential. The harvester weighs 2,700 kg, far lighter than traditional models of about 9,000 kg. Lighter weight means less soil compaction, easier ploughing, and lower costs for land preparation in the next crop cycle. A crawler base makes it effective on wet fields, while ergonomic controls help farmers work longer hours with ease.

Nikhil Nanda, Chairman & Managing Director, said Escorts Kubota remains committed to innovations that improve farmer livelihoods. “At Escorts Kubota, we are deeply committed to introducing innovations that can positively transform lives of India’s farmers. Our new Kubota combine harvester is a testament to the same. Its unique features, designed in Japan, not only offer more profit potential to our ‘Annadatas’ but can also help address the menace of air pollution in North India,” he said.

Akira Kato, Deputy Managing Director, called the launch a step toward sustainable farming. “Launch of the new Kubota combine harvester fits well into our plans to introduce game-changing innovations that can meaningfully transform Indian agriculture, increase productivity, profitability and meet sustainability goals through precision farming solutions. This addition will further boost Escorts Kubota’s presence in the farm equipment industry,”  he said.

Rajan Chugh, Chief Officer of the Agri Solutions Business Division, highlighted Escorts Kubota’s leadership in paddy applications. “PRO588i-G combine harvester significantly advances the harvesting technology in its class in the country. Escorts Kubota is a category leader in paddy crop applications, with world-class harvesters and rice transplanters. A new addition to this family of products will further cement our position,” he noted.

A new benchmark in harvesting

The PRO588i-G combines efficiency, sustainability, and profitability in one machine. It reduces costs, raises grain value, and offers farmers a viable alternative to crop residue burning. With this launch, Escorts Kubota redefines harvesting technology for India’s next generation of farmers.
